OIL SPILL RESPONSE TRAINING AT ANCHORAGE TANJUNG BRUAS PORT
Tanjung Bruas Port, 8 August 2024 – Tanjung Bruas Port (“TBP”) along with PV Environment Equipment Sdn Bhd and shipping agent, KUDRAT MARITIME gathered together to enhance knowledge of oil spill response. The focus was to understand the behavior of oil in marine environments, effective responses equipment and strategies to minimize environmental damage. Dispersant in oil spill is vital as to break down spilled oil into smaller droplets, allowing it to disperse throughout the upper water column. These processes are important to reduces the risk of oil reaching the shorelines, protecting coastal ecosystem from contamination. Dispersants also speed up the natural biodegradation process, allowing microorganisms to degrade oil more effectively and preventing the formation of thick oil mousse, which makes recovery efforts more challenging. En. Mohd Syazwan Khairol Azmi, an instructor from PV Environment Equipment Sdn Bhd along with 20 other participants including TBP’s pilot, port security & safety department and operation staff are present for an in-depth exploration of oil spill response. En. Syazwan guided the group through practical exercises and detailed discussions to ensure that each participant gained a thorough understanding.
